For the first time in more than year, Grace Cathedral reopened Sunday to the relief of usual Sunday attendees. Like other churches around the world, the episcopal church closed its temples in March 2020 due to the COVID19 pandemic.
While keeping social distance and facemasks, parishioners were delighted to hear the sermon, participate in prayer, and sing to the chorus in person. Bishop Marc Andrus led the service surrounded by church leaders, thanking San Franciscans for their patience and saying that services will continue both, in person and online. The bishop praised San Francisco and California authorities for expediting vaccination and for complying with the mandates.
For Holy Communion, parishioners were instructed to go outside and provided with strict details to continue following social distancing. It was a joyful, sunny Sunday to be outdoors and in community at one of the most beautiful churches of California.
