Unmarried and single people, get ready. It’s going to be your week.

Get ready to celebrate Unmarried and Single Americans Week, from Sunday, Sept. 20-26, in the United States. It started in Ohio in the 1980s to celebrate single life and recognize singles and their contributions to society. Here is data from the US Census:

107 million or 45% of Americans 18 years old and older

…are single or unmarried (unmarried people include those who were never married, widowed or divorced.)

The majority are women, as you can see:
53% of women
47% men

…and 34 million unmarried and single Americans live alone.

Isn’t that something?
