San Francisco y Mexico, D.F. are musical sister cities.

On Sunday September 20 at 4:00 p.m. the Bernal Hill Players will perform a chamber music concert entitled SF-DF: Music of Two Cities. With the idea of creating local art in a globalized world, the Bernal Hill Players have created a sister city project of music written by composers from San Francisco and Mexico City, including two newly commissioned works by Beth Custer and Gabriela Ortiz. This gleefully eclectic program includes pieces in classical contemporary, rock, cabaret, and folk-inspired styles, with works by Silvestre Revueltas, Carlos Santana, Liliana Felipe, Erik Pearson, Eduardo Gamboa, and Chus Alonso. The show will be accompanied by slides of both cities by photographers Jerónimo García Naranjo and Anastasia Kuba.
Bernal Hill Players:
- Singer, flutist, conductor and producer Martha Rodríguez-Salazar.
- Musician Julia Sarah Bonomo (purposefully initialed after J.S. Bach).
- Cellist Samsun van Loon.
- Pianist Jennifer Peringer.
