The Great Pyramid of Cholula, also known as Tlachihualtepetl, shows the advanced civilizations in Mexico before the Spanish invaded and conquered; Its base is the largest in the world. Can you believe it? On a recent visit to the City of Cholula, now a favorite place for American, Canadian, and European ex-pats and nomads, I was excited to visit the Great Pyramid and the church on top again. It was also “Holly Week” (Semana Santa), celebrated yearly in Mexico, as more than 90% of Mexicans are Christian. Mexicans honor this event not in silence but with color, music, and creativity.
Cholula is full of culture and things to do for the traveler interested in learning about other cultures. Here is my little tribute to Cholula ¡Bienvenidos a Cholula!
