The Most Profound Poem About Giving

Khalil Gibran was a writer, artist, and philosopher born in Lebanon in 1883. He studied and lived in the United States where several of his books were published. “The Prophet” was one of them; it became a bestseller translated into 100 languages. “On Giving,” perhaps one of the most profound poems on the subject of generosity, was included in The Prophet.

It said things like this:

Khalil Gibran became a recluse and a hermit. He passed away on April 10, 1931, from liver problems. His last works were a book called The Earth Gods (1931), and a manuscript of what became The Wanderer (1932). Gibran’s body was interred in Bsharri at the Mar Sarkis monastery, which soon became a museum.
