Actress Eliana Lopez will start performing on her solo show “What is the Scandal?” this weekend at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts in San Francisco. What is the Scandal? seeks to be a study in politics and media, gender and cultural differences, centered on the, well, Scandal around San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi –Eliana’s husband. A family quarrel that took place in 2012, became a public, gossipy event threatening Mirkarimi’s job and public image, Eliana’s sense of self, and their life as a family.
“Everybody had and still has an opinion about what happened,” says radio producer and co-host Isabel Gutierrez, a strong supporter during the controversy, via “Hecho en California,” a popular bilingual radio show in San Francisco. “This is her chance to set the record straight,” Gutierrez said.
What is the Scandal? starts Friday, May 29th and continues through Sunday June 7tht, 2015, in a two-weekend run as follows:
Friday & Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 7pm,
