Reclaiming the Feminine Energy in All of Us

The feminine is a force characterized by empathy, kindness, and expressive emotion. Shaman men and women have said this for centuries. Cultural scientists have studied it as well. Dr. Riane Eisler explains it beautifully: the feminine principle is not exclusively female or embedded only in women; it is the energy of connection and care that lives in all of us.

Both women and men can be empathetic, creative, and kind. Yet our societies often tell us not to show those emotions, or to “moderate” them, to the point of becoming impassive professionals. Here in Silicon Valley, where I live, people often don’t even say hello or acknowledge one another—perhaps for fear of appearing soft, or because we have learned to distrust, judge, and separate feelings from thought.

On Women’s Day, it is time for all of us to reclaim that feminine energy. hashtag#IWD26

“For real change, we need feminine energy in the management of the world. We need a critical number of women in positions of power, and we need to nurture the feminine energy in men”.
–Isabel Allende
